# Enable Payment Methods

> Configure the payment methods buyers can use in Embedded, Hosted, and Headless Checkout

This guide shows how to choose the payment methods buyers see in checkout. For a description of each method, see [Payment Methods](https://docs.crossmint.com/payments/concepts/payment-methods.md).

## Configure Payment Methods

> [tab] Embedded
>
> Embedded Checkout enables all payment methods by default. Configure them with the `payment` prop:
>
> ```tsx theme={null}
> <CrossmintEmbeddedCheckout
>     lineItems={{
>         collectionLocator: `crossmint:${collectionId}`,
>         callData: {
>             totalPrice: "0.001",
>             quantity: 1,
>         },
>     }}
>     payment={{
>         crypto: {
> enabled: true, // Enable crypto payments
> defaultChain: "ethereum", // Optional: set default blockchain
> defaultCurrency: "usdc", // Optional: set default currency (usdc, eurc, eth)
>         },
>         fiat: {
> enabled: true, // Enable fiat payments
> // By default, all fiat methods are enabled if you don't specify any
>             allowedMethods: {
>                 card: true, // Enable/disable credit cards
>                 applePay: true, // Enable/disable Apple Pay
>                 googlePay: true, // Enable/disable Google Pay
>             },
> defaultCurrency: "usd", // Set default currency
>         },
> defaultMethod: "fiat", // Optional: "fiat" or "crypto"
>     }}
> />
> ```
>
> Crypto payments work with any web3 wallet, including MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, WalletConnect, and Phantom. For higher conversion, offer both fiat and crypto, and set a default that matches your target market.

> [tab] Hosted
>
> Hosted Checkout accepts the same payment types through the `payment` prop:
>
> ```tsx theme={null}
> <CrossmintHostedCheckout
>     payment={{
>         fiat: {
>             enabled: true,
> defaultCurrency: "usd", // Set preferred fiat currency
>         },
>         crypto: {
>             enabled: true,
> defaultChain: "polygon", // Set preferred blockchain
> defaultCurrency: "pol", // Set preferred crypto
>         },
> defaultMethod: "fiat", // Optional: "fiat" or "crypto"
>         receiptEmail: "buyer@example.com", // Optional: receipt email
>     }}
> />
> ```

> [tab] Headless
>
> Headless checkout supports card payments and cross-chain crypto payments. You choose the method per order through the `payment` object when you create or update it:
>
> ```json Card theme={null}
> {
>     "payment": {
>         "method": "card",
>         "receiptEmail": "buyer@example.com"
>     }
> }
> ```
>
> ```json Crypto theme={null}
> {
>     "payment": {
>         "method": "ethereum-sepolia",
>         "currency": "usdc",
>         "payerAddress": "0x1234abcd..."
>     }
> }
> ```
>
> For crypto, `method` is the chain the buyer pays on — it can differ from the chain the asset lives on. When you build the payment-method selection UI, filter the supported currencies down to those where the buyer's wallet has enough balance, and make sure the wallet is set to the same network as the selected payment chain. See [How Checkout Works](https://docs.crossmint.com/payments/concepts/how-checkout-works.md) for the order lifecycle.

## Test Payment Methods

In the staging environment you can use test card numbers and test wallets to exercise the full flow without real money. See [price limits](https://docs.crossmint.com/payments/advanced/testing-tips.md#limits-in-staging) and [test card numbers](https://docs.crossmint.com/payments/advanced/testing-tips.md#test-credit-card-numbers).
