Affiliate commission is how review sites and creators get paid for the sales they send to a store. Crossmint brings the same model to agents. When your agent buys through Agent Checkouts at a merchant in the affiliate network, the purchase carries affiliate tracking, so the sale can earn a commission from the merchant.

Who It Is For

This page is for you if you build AI assistants or agents that buy things for your users with Agent Checkouts.

How It Works

  1. Your agent starts a checkout with a startUrl, as it does today. See Configure a Checkout.
  2. Crossmint checks whether an affiliate partner covers that merchant.
  3. If the merchant is covered, the checkout first opens a tracked affiliate link, which redirects to the store. If the merchant is not covered, or the tracked link is not ready in time, the checkout opens your startUrl as usual.
  4. The checkout buys as usual. The affiliate network tracks the sale and determines whether it qualifies for a commission from the merchant.
The checkout, the payment, and what your user sees stay the same.

What You Need to Do

Nothing. Affiliate tracking runs inside the Agent Checkouts API you already call. There is no new endpoint, parameter, or setup, and it already runs on your checkouts at covered merchants.

Which Merchants Are Covered

Coverage depends on the merchant. Each merchant sets its own commission rate, and rates vary by merchant and product. Some large merchants are not covered. Amazon, for example, is not part of the network. To learn more about merchant coverage and rates, contact the team at agents@crossmint.com.

Earnings and Payouts

Payout timing depends on the affiliate network and the merchant. Expect about 2 months from the purchase, and it can take longer. For questions about payouts, email agents@crossmint.com.

Using Your Own Affiliate Program

If you already earn through your own affiliate links, keep sending them as the startUrl — your own affiliate program works with Crossmint without changes. The checkout detects the affiliate tracking on the URL and opens it exactly as you send it, with all its query parameters: Crossmint does not replace it or add its own tracking on top. Check your affiliate reports after your first purchases.
Affiliate tracking needs no setup, never changes your checkout, and never replaces your own affiliate links.
